The third quarter has come to an end. Can you believe Spring Break is starting? The end of the school most year will be here before you know it. With the third quarter ending, it’s time to reflect on how far we have come this school year. During the third quarter we have had a lot of weather challenges, but our staff and students were able to complete many assignments and tasks virtually!

This quarter our elementary students have been working on identifying small problems vs. big problems during Social Thinking. They have been using their Super Flex brains to utilize strategies to help figure out the size of the problem and the expected reaction size. Academically, our elementary students have shown growth in their writing and reading skills. As a class they have read “Willie and the Chocolate Factory” and they loved it! The students recalled fun and interesting parts of the book by sharing orally and written.

Middle school rocked it out this quarter during Social Thinking. Students worked to focus on their ability to be self-aware and recognize What’s In The Way. Students continued to exercise their communication skills and begin brainstorming their various Constructive Can Do’s. Academically, students showed great effort towards improving their communication, teamwork, and ability to complete tasks. Students focused on their handwriting, spelling, punctuation, grammar and ability to brainstorm/organize their ideas on paper.

Middle school students continue to show improvement in their Mathematics, solving for various variables presented within equations. Students have shown a great improvement in their ability to work with ordered pairs within a graph. In writing, middle school began regular responses to various Current Events taking place. Students discussed the various branches of government, their roles, and processed their thoughts feelings and emotions regarding different political events as of lately. Students focus areas: The Presidential Election, The Texas Ice Storm, The Siege of Capitol Hill, and The Coronavirus Epidemic.

During the third quarter our high school students have been working on “Focus Forward” during Social Thinking. They have been working on creating vision boards. The vision boards are to help them visualize their goals for the future. They continue to identify areas of interest that they want to pursue after high school. Academically, our high school students are knocking out their coursework and staying on track to complete their courses by the end of the school year. All students are also preparing for the Spring SOLs.

Warmest Regards,
